Arab slave traders also brought slaves as early as the first century AD from Africa. Most of the African slaves were brought however in the 17th century and were taken into Western India. The Siddi people are of mainly East African descent.
Much of the northern and central parts of the subcontinent was ruled by the so-called Slave Dynasty of Turkic origin from 1206-1290: Qutb-ud-din Aybak, a slave of Muhammad Ghori rose to power following his master's death. From the eighth to the fourteenth centuries; the Arabs controlled this vast slave trade, which stretched not only along the entire coast of East Africa and throughout the Arab world but as far east as China. The Carthaginians were the descendants of the Phoenicians, a Negroid people, who were great merchants. They traded with India, the peoples of the Mediterranean, and the Scilly Isles. They founded Carthage as a central base for this commerce, the Phoenicians, like most commercial peoples, were not warriors. Their immense wealth and their luxurious manner of living had rendered them still softer. It was inevitable that they should inspire plunder in the heart of their powerful neighbor, Rome, which was less than a hundred miles across the Mediterranean. Rome, then in the prime of her youth, had concentrated on military power.

It is high time that the Directorate General of Shipping be committed to view the valid contents appearing in the “Marine Waves" (A Govt. of India’s registered monthly magazine) e.g. May 2008 Issue, wherein published of the CDC Scam, an employee ( Shipping Corpn. of India, Mumbai.), heartlessly thrown out of service while in a public sector, like a fish out of water, for no fault of his, but for being a whistle-blower and the case of a seafarer picked up by Indian Coast-guard from sea, from a sunken vessel etc. all reflecting upon the genuine deficiencies and defects in the policy, system and procedures thus the genuine grievance of seafarers being continuously neglected. While this is the poor state of an organised public sector in India , why boast of working out schemes to benefit the un-organised workers. Is it not mudslinging to the eyes of the public (citizens of India ), for the politicians to fill their coffers?
Why the national maritime administration (office of the DGS) not poised for an overhaul to meet to the times, when INDIA is known for “Knowledge Management”.

The UAE has an open economy with a high per capita income and a sizable annual trade surplus. Despite largely successful efforts at economic diversification, nearly 40% of GDP is still directly based on oil and gas output. Dalai Lama has been residing in India since 1959 & has been creating troubles in Tibet since then. I fail to understand why on earth would India continue his political asylum & anger the Chinese?
After all, this would lead to instability in Asia and could have immense effects world-wide. Moreover, what’s the big deal in Tibet being a part of China? After all, its nothing more than a landscape.
Additionally, China is a nuclear power with deadly nuclear striking capability. In 2 previous occasions in war, CHINA comprehensively defeated India. Don’t the Indians ever learn?
PS: I recently read that India has only 1 aircraft carrier (Viraat), and that too is currently languishing in the dock. With no aircraft carrier to support maritime defenses (Until 2010 when the Russians are providing India with Admiral Gorshov), isn’t this the best time for China to attack India?

I have done my HND Part I , as i have studied OOW HND I/II in Lowestoft College England.
Sir I am from India and have this query since long, Sir let me tell you that in my country India after Higher Secondary (+2) we have to do three years or 4 years of course to get a Bachelors Degree after which we can pursue masters program.
Now since i have not done any bachelors course in my country , what i have done is HND I from England (UK) , now after some time i will do HND II also in maritime, what i wanted to know is that after completing HND Part I and II , what else should i do so that it is equivalent to a Bachelors Degree and i can pursue a masters program.
Since i want to do MBA in future was just concerned what sort of study i should do so that after my HND II i can do a masters degree program.
