Voting Question: Is this dress suitable?

My friends and I have been entered into a dance competition on behalf of our high school (UK). The letter said that it is formal dress and so I was not sure if this dress was long enough but I have to bare in mind that I have to do the Cha Cha Cha and Jive, which are traditionally very short, but also the Waltz and the Quickstep, which are long, but if I was to wear a long one I would end up tripping on it during the Cha Cha Cha and Jive and make an utter fool of myself ^^, not good. One of my friends dress is down to her calves and the other's is just below her knee while the boys are in suits (jacket not necessary), my partner will be in a white shirt, black trousers and waistcoat with my flower on ;) Also, long dresses tend to make me look like a sack because I’m little and the top of them are always huge grrr... Resolved Question: Necklace is too short?

For my birthday last week, my boyfriend bought me a tiffany necklace. It is like a string of pearls but the beads are silver instead. Only thing is, it is a bit too short and I think would look better if it was longer on me. Can I get such a thing as an extender for it?It was bought from the Tiffany website so there I can're really return it, and I wouldn't get beads to match as they are Tiffany silver. He just sits there, on that slowly-crumbling wall, looking out to sea, watching the clouds move across the spiritless sky. A bead of shimmering rain scuttles down his cheek. A salty teardrop meets it. He knows what he must do, he just needs to wait for the darkness to fall, then he will do what he must, whether he wants to or not, he must, even if it kills him inside, he must. He sits there. Still. Just thinking. If there was some way out, would he take it? Would he have the courage? Millions of questions like these filters through his brain. Teasing him. Testing him. Just a few more hours till dusk. A few more hours of this torture. Is it worth it? He has no choice. Still. But he can’t just sit here and wait, can he? He needs something to pass the time. Anything. But what? He can’t look too suspicious. He was too busy thinking of answers to many more of these annoying, unanswerable questions, that he didn’t notice a figure watching him. But then why should he be worried of a little girl. She skipped up to him, with an ice-cream in her hand, melting down her pale fingers. She licked them clean, and then ran her tongue round the edges of the cone to capture the drips. The boy with the unanswerable questions still hadn’t noticed her. He was too busy with his own problems. “Hello!” said the little girl, startling the young man, but he didn’t show it. He had been trained not to. He looked at the little girl. She was quite pale in the fading sun-light, with blond ringlets covering her shoulders. She was wearing a white dress with short white lace sleeves, and a separate overskirt in layers and layers of soft pink with a bow at the waist and a white lace hat trimmed in pink -a simple upper-class outfit. This child must be from a rich family, her parents probably didn’t have to work. This notion made the young man irritated; the way that some families never have to work, and yet he had come from a family that hardly had enough money for food. Just this idea makes him so annoyed and jealous at the same time. He looked back at the little girl, how could this one little girl stimulate such emotions when she looked so sweet. The boy sighed. He always wanted a little girl when he was older. But he had no chance now, what with being a messenger and all. No one would want him after this. Even if he did find someone who loved him and whom he loved, he could just about support himself, let alone a wife and kids. At least he was getting paid well for this job. But he hoped, nay, prayed that he would never get another mission like this one. Would he give up a wife and child he didn’t have to get out of doing this? He let out another long, heavy sigh. He was fed up of questions. “What’s wrong, mister?” asked the little girl, taking another big lick of the chocolate ice-cream. He realised he still hadn’t said a word to her. He was just about to when a thought came into his mind, he looked around. Where are her parents? Only the young man and the little girl were standing on the desolate promenade. Not somewhere for a little girl especially when the now red sun is setting deep into the dark and mysterious ocean that lay warily calm in front of them. “Where are your parents?” asked the boy, quite concerned and not really wanting to look after a little kid at this precise moment. “Oh, they’re around. What’s your name mister? Mine’s Sally.” She gave a little smile, showing teeth like pearls, except for the chocolate. She had a certain innocence about her, but the lda could not pin-point why. “Umm, it’s Isaac” Knowing that he should never give his name out, but what’s the harm, she’s only a little girl, he thought. “You know, you really shouldn’t give your name out to strangers” stated the girl, still in the same, sweet little voice, but something had changed. That innocence had gone. The young man was about to interrupt, but she stopped him. “The Duke wouldn’t like that. Are you really up for the job at hand? Because if you’re not, you know what he’ll do? He’s done it lots before. Lots. Well, see ya!” And with that the little girl ran off, out of sight, leaving the boy standing there, on the empty promenade, baffled and frightened. The man knew what the Duke would do, he’d seen it. He leaned on the wall behind him, his legs not able to keep him up anymore. He took a deep breath. He was too young to die, only a boy of 16. That’s why the Duke had hired him; he wasn’t conspicuous. No one would even notice him. Looking over it now, the young man knew the wrong step he took. The wrong corner he turned. But he had no choice. No, he did, he had lots of choices, but he took the wrong one. Isaac had carried on with his work-stacking books-since he wasn’t allowed to talk to customers. The Duke had looked at him, and then turned to the book-binder.Next thing Isaac knew, he was being escorted into a posh-looking carriage and then he was the Duke’s young messenger. He had been trained for two weeks, so he knew what to do, how to do it. Isaac remembered thinking it was a bit much, two weeks to learn how to deliver messages. He now knew why. It was to train him for special missions like this one. He was no longer the Duke’s messenger. He was the Duke’s assassin. Another 3 hours it looked like. The Sun was slowly sinking, but not fast enough. Isaac just wanted it to be over. His hand fell to his pocket. The small, glass bottle was still there. How much Isaac just wanted to throw it in the sea, to never see it again, to never feel its icy touch. Cold, like the Duke’s heart. Yet, in spite of this, Isaac knew he would never hate the Duke. 1) I have quite oily skin. I use oil control cream before I put on my make-up but during the day it wears off and I end up looking like I have no make-up on anymore. I try to re-apply during the day but It is hard when I am at school. I have quite sensitive skin and at the moment I use The Body Shop All-In-One-Face base and It works really good but does anyone know any brands (that I can get in the U.K shops ( Boots, Super-drug....)) that cover up oily skin but work really well? This is much appreciated. 2) I am going to a party and it is quite posh, I am wearing a black strapless dress with beads on the chest area. I am wearing black tights or no tights. I red lipstick and red nail varnish.I am wearing small pearl earrings and a little earl necklace I am wearing my hair up and my make-up is following a kind of 60's look. At the last show in the craft tent there was a stall with handmade jewellery made out of different types of beads and pearls. Some had little watches on them. I've seen this stall at other events and took the woman's card but have lost it since. I really loved the jewellery and was wondering if anyone knew the name or the website. Resolved Question: Can I clean my satin wedding dress myself?

I got married in July and am looking into getting my dress cleaned. The quotes I am receiving are min £130 which I've been told will probably rise to £200. I can't justify spending that amount on something I'll never (I hope!) wear again. Can I clean it myself? It is made from satin and is heavily beaded with sequins,pearls etc on the bodice. It only has a small amount of tan/make up around the top edge (it's strapless) and some black marks on the train. Thought about trying vanish. Someone else told me to put it in a pillowcase and put it in the washing machine! Has anyone else tried it? Help! I need some suggestions to save myself a fortune! more

Resolved Question: Where can I get 14 metres of vintage beaded braiding valued?

The beaded trim is 4cm wide and hand made - sewn onto white cotton net. The beads are all made of glass and include diamante, bugles, flower beads and dyed pearls (not plastic).
